About YOU...
Are you a physician or healthcare leader who finds yourself…
-
Consistently taking on new tasks because it’s too difficult or will cause too much conflict to say, “No”?
-
Caught in a loop of perfectionism because if it isn’t “perfect,” then it isn’t (and you aren’t) “good enough”?
-
Overwhelmed, burned out, and feeling increasingly disconnected from your work and those around you because it all feels like it’s just too much?
Are you an ORGANIZATION whose employees are…
-
Having increasing difficulty engaging in and completing tasks and projects?
-
Having more interpersonal conflicts with co-workers?
-
Afraid to speak up in meetings or voice their concerns and difficulties at work to their managers and bosses?
-
Showing up late to work, missing deadlines, or taking more sick days?
What's driving your challenges?
All of the above, on an individual and/or collective level, could be the result of trauma.
There isn’t a single human being on the planet right now who hasn’t experienced some form of trauma. If you’ve gone through the pandemic, witnessed violence (even on tv), experienced job uncertainty, or experienced discrimination based on gender or ethnicity, you’ve experienced trauma. If you’ve experienced events or circumstances that felt “too much, too soon,” “too much, too fast,” “too much for too long,” or “too little for too long,” you’ve experienced trauma.

It's likely negatively impacting your (if you’re an individual) or your employees’ (if you’re an organization) ability to not only be effective, efficient, and productive at work, but also robbing you of a sense of fulfillment, enjoyment, connection, and accomplishment at work and in the work that you do.
Despite this, we must still show up in our work spaces, try to be productive, try to be engaged, try to go on as if we've experience no threat to our mental, emotional, physical, or spiritual well-being.

The problem is, simply stuffing it down without acknowledging, addressing, and releasing it means that it will simply come out in some other way, such as those listed above. It can show up as depression, anxiety, irritability, headaches, fatigue, and other health problems. It can derail you from accomplishing your goals and fulfilling your dreams, personally and professionally.

So, what do you do?
How I can help...
If you’re an INDIVIDUAL, you can consider working with a trauma-informed coach who uses a combination of cognitive and somatic (body-based) techniques to help you identify and shift thought and behavior patterns (that may or may not be related to trauma) that are creating obstacles so you can experience more joy, fulfillment, and success, both professionally and personally.

If you’re an ORGANIZATION, you can consider bringing in a trauma-informed speaker, workshop facilitator, and coach to educate, train, and coach your executives, managers, and staff on creating and implementing trauma-informed communication and approaches that support the mental and physical well-being of your employees, leading to a more productive, engaged, fulfilling, and enjoyable work environment.

Fortunately, I work with both individuals and organizations in all of these ways.
About me...
I’m Dr Melissa Hankins, a certified executive coach, Harvard-trained psychiatrist, and trauma-informed EFT Tapping (Emotional Freedom Techniques) practitioner.
I combine my 20+ years of expertise in behavioral, emotional, and mental health and wellness, executive coaching, and trauma-informed mind-body approaches and techniques when working with individuals and organizations to facilitate greater mental, emotional, and physical well-being amongst individuals and teams that allows for greater success, fulfillment, engagement, creativity, and happiness both individually and collectively as an organization.

I have spoken extensively (including internationally) on the topic of recognizing and addressing trauma in the coaching of professionals. I have also worked with a number of healthcare organizations, businesses, and individual high-performing physicians and executives to reduce burnout, create psychologically safe work environments, and create greater personal and professional individual and organizational success and wellbeing. In addition, I have used these same methodologies in overcoming my own history of professional burnout.
